Beauty and the Beast
Gaston (Matthew Hawkins) rang true to his animated legacy in appearance and demeanor. His voice, animalistic boorish charms, and swagger channeled 1991. He owned the audience during his scenes and knew. The chemistry between Gaston's oblivious mannerisms and Belle's expressions of dismay and disgust made their song and dance routine of "Me" one of the show's highlights.
In no way did the cast fail to pour their all into their roles. The vocal arrangement? Powerful, evoking. especially Gaston's renditions. - Craig Spence, "The Leader"
The Rocky Horror Show
Rocky, the very personification of the Charles Atlas bodybuilding regime, played to, well, Ken Doll perfection by Matthew Hawkins, who looks swell in leopard-skin and conveys an earnest sincerity that makes him all the more appealing. - Jeffrey Ellis, "Broadway World"
